Grace O'BrienFinance and Sponsorship Co-ChairHi everyone! Congrats on getting into law school and welcome to Dal. It isn’t as scary as people tell you and Dal Law is known to surround you with a friendly and helping community of people. I am the Finance and Sponsorship Co-Chair for your O-Week. This means I have been reaching out to firms and businesses across the country to fill your swag bags and allow for fun events and free food! I grew up in Parry Sound, Ontario (home of Bobby Orr) and completed a Bachelor of Environmental Science at McGill University. At Weldon I am on the Sports Committee (hmu for intramural information) and am the Co-Chair of the Environmental Law Student Society (co-queen of the trees). In my spare time you can find me training for inner-tube water polo, going on hikes, or continuing my search for Halifax’s best cup of joe. If you have any questions about law school or are in Halifax for the summer and want to discover taco tuesdays, feel free to reach out! Can’t wait to meet you all.

Becky WieschowskiBooking Co-ChairHello incoming students! Congrats on getting into law school and choosing Dal! You don’t know it yet, but you’ve made the best choice ever! My name is Becky and I am the Events and Booking Co-Chair for your Orientation Week. I get the absolute pleasure of planning super fun activities for you to do all week to help you get oriented with Dalhousie and Halifax. I am from a small town north of Toronto called Kleinburg but I’m loving living in the city of Halifax. I spent this summer working at a full-service law firm in Toronto. At Weldon I am involved with the social committee, Pro Bono, and the career development committee. The 5 of us are so excited for your arrival in September. We are here to support you and make your transition to Halifax and Dalhousie as smooth as possible. If you have any questions throughout the summer please reach out! Sending lots of o-week love your way!

Lauren AtkinsonOutreach Co-ChairHi Friends! As I am sure you may have already heard once or twice, congrats on getting into Dal Law! I hope you’re enjoying your summer and tbh we’re already pretty excited to meet you! (yep - law school makes you really enthusiastic and your use of !! increases exponentially). I am your O-week Outreach Co-ordinator which means that I will be the one sending you exciting emails at questionable times throughout O-week to keep you up-to-date on what is happening, as well as organizing your upper year buddies! I’m also the incoming VP of communications with DOMUS, the treasurer for Community Outreach and the Internal Co-ordinator for Dalhousie’s Urban Garden. I am a Haligonian born and raised and completed my BSc Honours in Microbiology at Dal before having a change of heart and joining the Weldon family, so I can probably answer almost any Dal/Halifax related question. This summer I am sticking around the city and working with the John Howard Society, doing work reintegrating incarcerated individuals back into the community and other similar projects. If you happen to be around and want to talk I’d be happy to chat! You can either email the O-week account or me directly at [email protected]

Erin MinukReturning Co-ChairHey everyone! First off, congrats on getting into law school – the tough part is over!! Second, welcome to Weldon. I can assure you your next three years will be nothing short of amazing – starting with orientation, of course. I am this year’s second best returning Co-chair, which means I listen to whatever Jason tells me to do. I am originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba and am the biggest Winnipeg Jets fan. I spent this summer working at a full-service firm in Toronto. At Weldon, I am Co-Chair of the Community Outreach Society, incoming 3L rep for the Student Finance Committee and most importantly - Law Games Captain!!! In my spare time you can catch me on a patio sippin' on a Caesar, having photoshoots with my dog or reading bachelorette spoilers. Can’t wait to meet all of you this Fall – if you have any questions, feel free to reach out!!

Jason KirshReturning Co-ChairHi Everyone! Congrats and welcome to the Schulich School of Law! I along with Erin Minuk are the returning Co-chairs of the O-week committee. We help oversee the rest of O-week committee by brining knowledge and experience from being on the team last year. I grew up in Toronto and am of course an avid Leafs fan. This summer I am working with the Ontario Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services as a summer law student. At school, I volunteer with ProBono, I have been a board member on the Law Student Society for the past two years, and I have been a co-chair on the Social/Graduation Committee. Outside of school I enjoy keeping up with the news/politics, tossing around a frisbee, and enjoying any patio with a patch of sun. The O-week team is here to help ensure you have the best orientation and transition to law school as possible. If you have any questions at all feel fee to contact us at our O-week email ([email protected]), or me personally ([email protected]).
